With only 3 weeks to plan, pack, and get to Hong Kong from San Francisco - things were a bit crazy. We are now one month in to our stay and I am finally finding time to download photos and get the blog up and running. There is so much to do and see and experience here in Hong Kong and in this area of the world and I am excited to share our journey with you!
I will spare you the pain of repeating all of the first week move details - getting rid of our apartment in SF, getting an apartment in HK, internet, phone, dishes, and basic things - like food, and a cot for the 2 year old - not in that order. Suffice to say that I will never ever go back to Ikea on a Saturday in Hong Kong. The rest of the world was there shopping and I almost lost Scarlett in a sea people.
We set up our apartment in the mid-levels, off of Cain Road, and very close to the escalators. The escalators were an important factor as they make getting around HK on foot possible. They start at the water front basically and bring you all the way up, through Soho, and to the mid levels where most expats live.
Soho has some of the best food in HK and I will write about some of my favorite restaurants next.
We have already taken a few wonderful day trips as well as a 5 night trip in to mainland and I will write about our experiences along with photos in the order that we did them. Since it is December, we are looking to plan a Christmas/New Years vacation and it is looking like Bali! The debate is really between Koh Samui and Bali - since I have not been to either - I am excited regardless of the decision.
It is December 4th and hard to believe that one month has passed since arriving. I will finish this first blog by saying that I am so thankful for this experience. I am really enjoying HK and everything that it has to offer. I could easily stay a year....hmmm.
